Henry Ford was a larger-than-life example of an entrepreneur who faced the same kinds of struggles and challenges we face today. He and his wife, Clara, built Fair Lane on the banks of the Rouge River, close to the town where they were born and raised. In 2013, a 501c3 non-profit organization was established to restore and reimagine Clara and Henry’s beloved estate and ensure their legacy endures. Fair Lane: Home of Clara and Henry Ford is a National Historic Landmark in the heart of Dearborn, Michigan.
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of members of Fair Lane’s inaugural Dealer Advisory Group (DAG), we have made remarkable progress. With great appreciation, their names are listed below. The leadership of the DAG along with the generous financial support of many of our Ford and Lincoln dealer colleagues across North America and other generous donors has enabled much of the home to be expertly restored.
Now, the Phase 2 Garage Campaign will restore and reimagine Henry’s historic garage. Part of the estate’s famous Powerhouse, where Henry tinkered, invented, and kept his vehicles, the garage will serve as Fair Lane’s Welcome Center and a space for gatherings and other special events.
Our Phase 2 Campaign is rooted in an uncompromised commitment to respect and ensure the continued historical significance and integrity of the Garage. We will build upon the foundation Henry Ford established over 100 years ago to carefully preserve, protect, and reimagine his Garage to ensure its future today and in perpetuity.
The proposed updates will make this important historic space welcoming, usable, and accessible to visitors and staff and include:
• A unique and flexible open space to welcome and visitors, tours, and other gatherings
• A technology-rich venue for a wide range of changeable exhibits, displays and other interactive experiences
• A versatile fully featured event space, suitable to host business, social and community events
• A platform to showcase historic, current model vehicles and prototypes
• A state-of-the-art electric fully functional vehicle charging station - adjacent to where Clara Ford charged her Detroit Electric Vehicle during the 1920s
• Major structural enhancements and amenities including a dramatic glass stair tower, restoration of electrical systems and infrastructure, new elevators and restrooms and accessible stairs
When complete, the Garage will be a fully functioning attraction of the estate, providing visitors with an enriching and inspiring experience.

Goals
In 2015, recognizing their uniquely close connection to the man who put the world on wheels, dealers from across the United States, Canada and beyond came together to establish the Dealer Advisory Group (DAG) to advise and guide the Campaign for Fair Lane. Sam Pack, of Dallas-Fort Worth, Elena Ford, and Edsel B. Ford II co-chair the initiative.
As one should expect from the industriousness of Ford dealers, the DAG set for itself an ambitious $3.5 million fundraising goal toward the ultimate Phase I goal of $27.5 million.
To date, dealers from across the U.S. and Canada have donated nearly $3.0 million to support the first phase of Fair Lane’s restoration.
